In addition to cloud hunting, visitors to Ta Chi Nhu are treated to a rare and special flower that can only be found in select areas, making this destination unique.
In recent years, Ta Chi Nhu has gained popularity as a new travel hotspot. Often referred to as the “Cloud Paradise” or the “Roof of Yen Bai”, this region captivates visitors with its breathtaking scenery and unique charm.
Here’s what makes Ta Chi Nhu in Yen Bai a must-visit destination:
The “Cloud Paradise” of Yen Bai
Located in Xà Hồ Village, Tram Tau District, Yen Bai Province, Ta Chi Nhu stands at an impressive 2,979 meters, making it the 7th highest peak in Vietnam. Known as the “Roof of Yen Bai”, this mountain also goes by names like Phu Song Sung (by the Thai ethnic group) or Chung Chua Nhà (by the H’mong people).
Sitting at such a remarkable altitude, Ta Chi Nhu is an ideal spot for cloud hunters and trekking enthusiasts. The scenery is wild and majestic, inspiring an intense desire in travelers to explore and conquer.
As you ascend, the landscape changes dramatically. At the base of the mountain, you’ll encounter the stunning scenery typical of Vietnam’s northwestern mountains and forests. Higher up, you’ll journey through ancient forests, streams, grassy hills, and bamboo groves. At the summit, visitors are treated to sweeping views of mountains and sky.
From Ta Chi Nhu’s peak, you can gaze upon layers of mountain peaks, spot quaint cottages nestled in the greenery, and most notably, witness a vast sea of clouds that seems to transport you into a dreamlike realm. The best time to experience this cloud-filled landscape is between 5:00 to 7:00 a.m., when the clouds, mist, and gentle rays of early sunlight create a romantic, expansive, and magical scene.
The Unique Chi Pâu Flower
Another highlight of Ta Chi Nhu is the chi pâu flower. Growing above 2,000 meters, this flower blooms only once a year in the fall, lasting for about 1-2 weeks. The concentration of chi pâu flowers on Ta Chi Nhu is higher than on other northern mountains, adding to its allure.
Thriving in the cold climate, this flower blossoms more abundantly at higher elevations. With its soft purple and white hues, the sea of chi pâu flowers adds a unique, dreamlike beauty to Ta Chi Nhu, helping visitors forget the fatigue of the long journey with its enchanting sight.
Journey to Conquer Ta Chi Nhu
The cloud-hunting adventure on Ta Chi Nhu usually takes about two days and one night. Travelers can choose to explore this “Roof of Yen Bai” on their own, in group tours, or with a guide. Tours to Ta Chi Nhu range from 2 to 4 million VND and are usually held over weekends.
When to Visit Ta Chi Nhu
The ideal time to visit Ta Chi Nhu is during the fall and winter, specifically from September to April. During this period, the weather is cool, with clouds and minimal rain, making it perfect for trekking and sightseeing. If you want to capture the chi pâu flowers in full bloom, late September to early October is the best time, as this is when the flowers display their most vibrant colors.
How to Get to Ta Chi Nhu
