3 DAYS 3 NIGHTS WANDERING THROUGH CAO BANG AT ONLY 1.8 MILLION VND
1. TRANSPORTATION:
- Departed from Hanoi, booked Vinh Dung sleeper bus at 9 AM from My Dinh Bus Station, arriving in Cao Bang around 4:30 PM.
- Ticket price: 300,000 VND/person (Found this bus service good, with new buses and friendly staff).
- Private Van Rental Limousine 9 - 18 seaters by Asia Transport
- In Cao Bang, booked motorbikes from Trung Kien Motor.
- Price: 150,000 VND/bike AB.
2. ITINERARY:
- Day 1: Cao Bang City – Lenin Stream – 15-layer Pass – Overnight in the city center (Nha Nghi 58M).
- Day 2: City's orange garden - Nang Cafe - Thung Mountain – Overnight in Trung Khanh (Nasan Green Farm).
- Day 3: Ban Gioc Waterfall – Ancient Chestnut Tree - City center - Return to Hanoi.
3. PLACES VISITED:
- Suoi Le Nin: Peaceful place, 50km north of the city. Breathtaking scenery; the water supposedly has a beautiful emerald color. A serene experience, although the journey was a bit challenging.
- Entrance fee: 45,000 VND/person.
- Kau Coc Cha Pass (15-layer Pass): A tough climb for an incredible panoramic view. Start at Nong Van Ngoan grocery store, hike for 30-45 minutes.
- City's Orange Garden: 3km from the center, a bit challenging road but worth it. Recommended visiting Hạ Lang if time is limited.
- Thung Mountain (Magic Eye Mountain): A must-visit for its stunning beauty. A 30-minute drive from the city, with a bit challenging last 1km walk.
- Ban Gioc Waterfall: Iconic location. Visit in the afternoon for a fuller flow. Boat ride available.
- Ancient Chestnut Tree: Located on the way to Ban Gioc Waterfall, interesting during chestnut season.
- Ngườm Ngao Cave: Regrettably missed this spot, but reviews suggest it's worth a visit.
4. ACCOMMODATION:
- Nha Nghi 58M – City center.
Room price: 250,000 VND/night.
- Nasan Green Farm – Trung Khanh (15km from Ban Gioc Waterfall).
- Stayed in a bungalow, 500,000 VND/room due to a mid-week discount.

- Roast Duck Pho: Pho Nha Do is recommended.
- Price: 30,000 VND/bowl with generous portions.
- Steamed Duck Eggs with Beer in Na Can: Unusual but interesting.
- Cao Bang Rice Rolls: 59 Pho Cu.
- Price: 30,000 VND/portion, available all day.
- Ap Chao Cake, Roast Duck: 126 Hien Giang.
- Nang Cafe: Beverages range from 25-40,000 VND.

8. TIPS FOR TRAVELING TO CAO BANG:
- Plan your itinerary wisely; don't forget the travel time, especially if going to remote areas.
- Download offline maps; some places may have no 4G signal.
- Fill up your gas tank adequately, as some roads have no gas stations.
- Wear high-friction shoes for the 15-layer Pass and consider renting beekeeping shoes for comfort.
- Ensure you have enough water and leave no trace.
